Die Veranstaltung widmet sich den Veränderungen wissenschaftlichen Wissens durch Computersimulation. Diese wird hinsichtlich verschiedener Aspekte (wie z.B. Zeitlichkeit, Benutzung von Digitalcomputern) von einer allgemeinen (und älteren) Tradition der ›Modellierung‹ differenziert und auf die Zeit nach 1945 datiert. Dabei geht es einerseits um historische Fallstudien, die an exemplarischen Konstellationen den Zusammenhang von medientechnischen Dispositiven und wissenschaftlichem Wissen veranschaulichen. Andererseits soll die kulturhistorische Reichweite und erkenntnistheoretische Bedeutung der Computersimulation für die Genese ›postmoderner‹ Wissenschaften untersucht werden.
Literaturangaben folgen vor und nach den einzelnen Sitzungen.
Im Rahmen der Vorlesung sind öffentliche Gastvorträge vorgesehen, deren Termine noch bekanntgegeben werden.
